Dragons have always held a special place in our imaginations, and what better way to bring these mythical creatures to life than through the magic of 3D printing? In our latest project, we’ve unleashed a newborn dragon that’s not only beautiful but also comes with a unique twist – a mesmerizing tri-color red-green-blue silk filament that adds a touch of magic to every scale.

Inspiration Strikes: The idea behind this project? Simply put, dragons are awesome. The inspiration to manufacture this 3D printed masterpiece stemmed from a deep appreciation for these mythical creatures and a desire to bring a touch of fantasy into the tangible world.

Shades of Magic: Choosing the right filament is crucial, and we opted for a tri-color red-green-blue silk filament. The result? A dragon that not only changes colors but also boasts a shiny, magical finish, capturing the essence of these fantastical beings.

Overcoming Challenges: No project is without its hurdles. This newborn dragon presented its own set of challenges, particularly with overhangs and fine details. However, overcoming these obstacles only added to the satisfaction of seeing the final, intricate result.

Size Matters: To make our dragon stand out, we decided to go big – 25% bigger than the standard size. 76cm in length to be exact. This decision not only increased the visual impact but also allowed for more intricate details to be visible on every mm of the dragon’s form.

Fine Details, Layer by Layer: Printing at a 0.16mm layer height, the dragon took a total of 15 hours to come to life. The meticulous layering process ensured that each crystal scale was perfectly defined, creating a stunning level of detail that captivates the beholder.

Printing this newborn dragon was a journey filled with the joy of seeing a mythical creature materialize before our eyes.
